We had to say good bye to our black goldfish, Darth Vadar on Sunday morning. We woke up to him floating around on the bottom of his bowl. I think good 'ole Darth Vadar was the longest pet we were able to keep around. Sadly, I can't even remember when we got him but he did have a friend named Goldie who died about 3 days after we got her. So we are now officially pet-free (just the way Alex likes it). I'm sure the kids will talk him into some kind of pet again...but thats the big question what kind of pet to get? Anyone think they have the perfect idea for a pet, let us know.

Hey Lori, I've got the perfect pet for you - the ever popular and lovely Chia Pet! I'm sure your kids will love to have more than one! We need to talk!!!

Alex is a pet hater?? I'm too much of a pet lover. I want one or more of everything. Maybe you should stick with fish.
I'm totally cool with our turtle. Lowest maintenance ever, and Cate thinks she has a real pet. Even though she can't take it for walk or play with it. (And I don't have have to pick up its poop or find a sitter if we're gone for a long time. The fish - is okay. I really do keep thinking that this dumb fish is going to kick the bucket, but every day, there he is, swimming around. I don't mind him. It's just that I'm not much of a pet-lover either.
Jaime and Alex must have had similar childhoods -- she would love to declare our house a pet-free zone (although she's decided a goldfish would be acceptable). I'd love a big, friendly dog -- but since I'm not willing to take on the responsibility myself we'll probably be stuck with a goldfish. Let us know if you find a way to make them last longer than a few days.
